PART- TIME LICENCED OPTICIAN NEEDED (251021)

Twenty 20 family eyewear is currently hiring a casual/ part-time optician with potential for permanent full time optician in the future, to add to our expanding optical. Our new modern family oriented optical in Bowness is part of a large existing combined Optometry/ Ophthalmology practice that offers excellent and compassionate care to patients of all ages.
 
 
Applicants with a minimum of two years experience are welcome to apply. Licenced opticians with experience preferred. All applicants should be comfortable and familiar using PC computers as well as EMR programs and have optical experience. We offer competitive salaries and incentives and are looking for availability of 18-24 hours a week to start.
 
Expected duties and responsibilities
· Greeting customers and patients in a professional manner with kindness and a warm welcome;
 
· Using current expertise to confidently assist and guide patients with frame and lens selection as well as lens coating options;
 
· Accurately taking pupil and segment height measurements using both Fitcam/Opticam or traditional dispensing including pupillometery;
 
· Dispense, adjust, and repair eyeglasses in a timely and professional manner;
 
· Tracking and following up on job status with optical labs to ensure reasonable turnaround times;
 
· Verify prescription eyeglasses and notify patients when glasses are ready for pick up;
 
· Appropriately deal with patient concerns to the patients satisfaction and uphold clinic standards;
 
· Assist in contacting frame representatives and share input with regards to latest frame styles;
 
· Place and receive contact lens orders ;
 
· Answer and field calls that may come into the optical;
 
· Comfortable and knowledgeable ordering contact lenses and notify patients when their contact lenses are ready for pick up;
 
· Flexibility to work some evenings and Saturdays;
 
· Monitor both frame and contact lens inventory, rotating stock and monitoring for expired product;
 
· Enjoys maintaining clean, well organized store front at all times including maintaining high standard cleaning protocols for the optical;
 
 
Assets
 
· A professional yet pleasant demeanour and appearance. Punctuality and confidence in position are assets;
 
· Previous experience with optical invoicing, ordering and inventory, familiarity with Optosys;
 
· Able to multitask effectively
 
· Enjoys working both independently and with others;
 
· Clear, calm, honest and effective communications skills especially with both seniors and younger children;
 
· Confidence providing input but also willing to learn new technologies and share ideas;
 
· If comfortable with contact lens fits and teaching this would be an asset but is not required;

Duties 
Conduct preliminary tests and gather patient history to support the optometrist.
Understanding and triaging emergency eye care.

Provide information on optical products and assist patients with frame/lens selection

Make minor adjustments to frames.
Handle billing, insurance claims, and payments.

Requirements 
High proficiency in English 
Experience in retail sales or customer service is preferred.
Previous experience in optical or a medical office setting is advantageous.
Knowledge of front desk operations within a healthcare environment is a plus.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Utilize optical equipment to measure customers’ eyes and determine appropriate lens specifications. 
Maintain an organized display of eyewear products and ensure that inventory is well-stocked.

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Ophthalmic Receptionist / Technician to join our team on a part-time basis (3 days per week). This is a dual-role position combining front desk reception duties with hands-on clinical support. Prior experience is an asset, but we are happy to train the right candidate who is motivated, detail-oriented, and enjoys working with people.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Greet and check in patients, schedule appointments, and manage phone/email inquiries
