  • To sign-on as an Eyesafe™ OD, contact the Eyesafe Vision Care Program Specialist, Breanne Lindsey, at blindsey@optometrists.ab.ca. You are required to sign a Doctor Panel Agreement and all doctors in the clinic where you are working must be AAO members, but only those doctors administering the Eyesafe™ program are required to sign the agreement.

  • A program that helps all members efficiently manage and save on their prescription safety eyewear orders for private and non-Eyesafe™ patients. You do not need to be an Eyesafe clinic to participate.
  • Compliance is managed for you. Simple, intuitive online ordering system. An online quote makes it easy to know your final cost. Your choice of lab, lenses and costing from Essilor or Hoya.
  • Orders are shipped directly to your clinic.

Eye See . . . Eye Learn™

The goal is to detect, diagnose and treat children with vision problems when they begin kindergarten so that every child can see and learn to the best of their ability.

This is a program for children attending kindergarten. The goal is to detect, diagnose and treat children with vision problems when they begin kindergarten so that every child can see and learn to the best of their ability.

  • Any child who has an eye exam and requires glasses is provided with a free pair through the program.
  • The AAO promotes the program to parents and teachers in every school in Alberta that supports a kindergarten class through the distribution of more than 65,000 informational packages.
  • A child is eligible from the September they begin kindergarten to when they begin Grade One. No forms are necessary, all kindergarten-aged children are eligible.
  • There are various ways you can help promote Eye See . . . Eye Learn™:

Classroom Visits

Volunteer your time to speak to kindergarten classes, local parent/teacher organizations or other parent/child related groups. The AAO has a specific package for those doctors visiting the classroom.

In-office Promotion – Help your young patients look forward to their exams by incorporating Eye See . . . Eye Learn™ materials and the Fribbit plush toy into your décor. Giving away Fribbit tattoos, colouring books or pencils also help to create a memorable experience. All of these materials can be ordered here using the resource order form.

Let us share how you have promoted Eye See . . . Eye Learn™ in your clinic by sending us pictures and a description of the event.

Eye See . . . Eye Learn™ continues to grow each year. What we accomplished in the previous year is included in the programs annual report.
